From 1997, the year of my arrival in NY, to the end of 2005, I devoted myself to a trilogy of project that examines transition and transportation: both as philosophical ideas and as possible themes for a work of art. TRANSITION had its origin in my being in New York City for the first time. Transportation was literally the means by which I first slated my curiosity about the city. For it was at the end of 1997 that I bought a van and began the first phase of my project: Id – by Van. By 1999--my third year in New York--many of my new friends in the city had left for one reason or another. Everything and everyone seemed to be on the move. I therefore decided to capture, if I could, this sense of “perpetual motion.” That was how I opened my own moving company. It was my way of extending and examining this idea, this feeling, of belonging to nowhere and yet everywhere at the same time. Hence the second phase of TRANSITION: Bridge – by Truck. By 2001, I had broadened the scope of my project. Now it would no longer be limited to New York, but would take in the whole world. This is the genesis for the last phase of my project: Stop Transition – in Warehouse.
